अनुवाद

Like a puppet pulled this way and that by strings, a man in this world moves, driven by another's power. Looking at the sufferings of Yudhishthira, I consider that the force of fate surpasses the outcome of human effort. Looking again at your unworthy deeds, which, moreover, are exceedingly sinful and unspeakable, bound to end in misfortune, it seems to me that one of your nature deserves praise only so long as his capable enemy bides his time. Casting off all sins, as a serpent sheds its worn-out skin, which it can no longer bear, the heroic Ajatashatru shines in his innate perfection, leaving the burden of sins upon your shoulders. Consider, O king, your deeds, which are contrary to religion and advantage, as well as to the conduct of the righteous. You, O king, have earned a bad reputation in this world and will reap misfortune in the next. Obeying the counsel of your son, you hope to enjoy this doubtful property, keeping it apart from him. This unrighteous deed is loudly discussed in the world. Therefore, O greatest of the Bharatas, this deed is unworthy of you. Calamity befalls one who is devoid of wisdom, or who is of low birth, or who is cruel, or who nurses hostility for a long time, or who is not steadfast in the virtues of a kshatriya, or is lacking in energy, or has an evil character -- indeed, one who bears such marks.
