शक्यं किम् अन्यद् वक्तुं ते दानाद् अन्यज् जनेश्वर ॥
ब्रुवन्तु वा महीपालाः सभायां ये समासते ॥
धर्मार्थौ संप्रधार्यैव यदि सत्यं ब्रवीम्य् अहम् ॥
प्रमुञ्चेमान् मृत्युपाशात् क्षत्रियान् क्षत्रियर्षभ ॥
प्रशाम्य भरतश्रेष्ठ मा मन्युवशम् अन्वगाः ॥
पित्र्यं तेभ्यः प्रदायांशं पाण्डवेभ्यो यथोचितम् ॥
ततः सपुत्रः सिद्धार्थो भुङ्क्ष्व भोगान् परंतप ॥
अजातशत्रुं जानीषे स्थितं धर्मे सतां सदा ॥
सपुत्रे त्वयि वृत्तिं च वर्तते यां नराधिप ॥
दाहितश् च निरस्तश् च त्वाम् एवोपाश्रितः पुनः ॥
इन्द्रप्रस्थं त्वयैवासौ सपुत्रेण विवासितः ॥

śakyaṃ kim anyad vaktuṃ te dānād anyaj janeśvara ||
bruvantu vā mahīpālāḥ sabhāyāṃ ye samāsate ||
dharmārthau saṃpradhāryaiva yadi satyaṃ bravīmy aham ||
pramuñcemān mṛtyupāśāt kṣatriyān kṣatriyarṣabha ||
praśāmya bharataśreṣṭha mā manyuvaśam anvagāḥ ||
pitryaṃ tebhyaḥ pradāyāṃśaṃ pāṇḍavebhyo yathocitam ||
tataḥ saputraḥ siddhārtho bhuṅkṣva bhogān paraṃtapa ||
ajātaśatruṃ jānīṣe sthitaṃ dharme satāṃ sadā ||
saputre tvayi vṛttiṃ ca vartate yāṃ narādhipa ||
dāhitaś ca nirastaś ca tvām evopāśritaḥ punaḥ ||
indraprasthaṃ tvayaivāsau saputreṇa vivāsitaḥ ||

भरतश्रेष्ठbharataśreṣṭhaO best of the Bharatas; O excellent descendant of Bharata
माmādo not; let not
मन्युवशम्manyuvaśaminto the power of wrath; under the sway of fury
अन्वगाःanvagāḥfollow; go after
पित्र्यंpitryaṃthe paternal; that inherited from the fathers
तेभ्यःtebhyaḥto them; for them
प्रदायांशंpradāyāṃśaṃhaving given the share; having granted the portion
पाण्डवेभ्योpāṇḍavebhyoto the Pandavas; from the side of the Pandavas
यथोचितम्yathocitamas is fitting; in due proportion
ततःtataḥthen; after that
सपुत्रःsaputraḥwith your son; having a son
सिद्धार्थोsiddhārthohaving attained your purpose; successful in your aim
भुङ्क्ष्वbhuṅkṣvaenjoy; partake of
भोगान्bhogānpleasures; enjoyments
परंतपparaṃtapaO scorcher of foes; O afflicter of enemies
अजातशत्रुंajātaśatruṃAjatashatru; Yudhishthira
जानीषेjānīṣeyou know; you are aware
स्थितंsthitaṃestablished; abiding
धर्मेdharmein dharma; in righteousness
सतांsatāṃof the virtuous; of the righteous
सदाsadāalways; forever
सपुत्रेsaputrewith the son; together with his son

अनुवाद

Vaishampayana continued: 'Having spoken these words, that bull among the Vrishnis, the delight of the Yadavas, then lay down upon his soft bed and slept.'
