देवनागरी
एवं तद् अभवद् युद्धं तदा भरतसत्तम ॥
संध्याकाले व्यतीते तु व्यपायात् स च मे गुरुः ॥

This chapter continues to reveal the twofold nature of this duel: outwardly it is a contest between two unsurpassed warriors, but inwardly it is a test of the ability to remember dharma amid the fury of battle. Bhishma again bows to Rama and only then takes his stand against him, showing that reverence for one's teacher does not vanish even in combat. The exchange of astras raises the fight to cosmic proportions: the sky is covered with arrows, fire arises, the world trembles at Rama's fall. Yet behind this power lies a troubling truth: when knowledge and vow are turned into weapons, nature itself answers with turmoil. The close of day again halts the battle, like a boundary reminding us that even the sternest kshatriya resolve must have a limit.
