देवनागरी

इदं ते नातपस्काय नाभक्ताय कदा चन ॥
न चाशुश्रूषवे वाच्यं न च मां यो ऽभ्यसूयति ॥
य इदं परमं गुह्यं मद्भक्तेष्व् अभिधास्यति ॥
भक्तिं मयि परां कृत्वा माम् एवैष्यत्य् असंशयः ॥
न च तस्मान् मनुष्येषु कश् चिन् मे प्रियकृत्तमः ॥
भविता न च मे तस्माद् अन्यः प्रियतरो भुवि ॥
अध्येष्यते च य इमं धर्म्यं संवादम् आवयोः ॥
ज्ञानयज्ञेन तेनाहम् इष्टः स्याम् इति मे मतिः ॥
श्रद्धावान् अनसूयश् च शृणुयाद् अपि यो नरः ॥
सो ऽपि मुक्तः शुभांल् लोकान् प्राप्नुयात् पुण्यकर्मणाम् ॥
कच्चिद् एतच् छ्रुतं पार्थ त्वयैकाग्रेण चेतसा ॥
कच्चिद् अज्ञानसंमोहः प्रनष्टस् ते धनंजय ॥

लिप्यंतरण (IAST)

idaṃ te nātapaskāya nābhaktāya kadā cana ||
na cāśuśrūṣave vācyaṃ na ca māṃ yo 'bhyasūyati ||
ya idaṃ paramaṃ guhyaṃ madbhakteṣv abhidhāsyati ||
bhaktiṃ mayi parāṃ kṛtvā mām evaiṣyaty asaṃśayaḥ ||
na ca tasmān manuṣyeṣu kaś cin me priyakṛttamaḥ ||
bhavitā na ca me tasmād anyaḥ priyataro bhuvi ||
adhyeṣyate ca ya imaṃ dharmyaṃ saṃvādam āvayoḥ ||
jñānayajñena tenāham iṣṭaḥ syām iti me matiḥ ||
śraddhāvān anasūyaś ca śṛṇuyād api yo naraḥ ||
so 'pi muktaḥ śubhāṃl lokān prāpnuyāt puṇyakarmaṇām ||
kaccid etac chrutaṃ pārtha tvayaikāgreṇa cetasā ||
kaccid ajñānasaṃmohaḥ pranaṣṭas te dhanaṃjaya ||

शब्दशः अर्थ
संस्कृतIASTअर्थ
इदं ते नातपस्कायidaṃ te nātapaskāyathis is not for one who lacks austerity; this is not for one without spiritual discipline
नाभक्ताय कदा चनnābhaktāya kadā cananever for one who is not devoted; never for a non-devotee
न चाशुश्रूषवे वाच्यंna cāśuśrūṣave vācyaṃnor should it be spoken to one unwilling to hear; it should not be told to one who will not listen
न च मां यो ऽभ्यसूयतिna ca māṃ yo 'bhyasūyatinor to one who envies Me; not to one who reviles Me
य इदं परमं गुह्यंya idaṃ paramaṃ guhyaṃwhoever this supreme secret; he who this hidden truth
मद्भक्तेष्व् अभिधास्यतिmadbhakteṣv abhidhāsyatiwill explain to My devotees; will tell among My bhaktas
भक्तिं मयि परां कृत्वाbhaktiṃ mayi parāṃ kṛtvāhaving shown supreme devotion to Me; having offered supreme bhakti to Me
माम् एवैष्यत्य् असंशयःmām evaiṣyaty asaṃśayaḥwill come to Me alone, without doubt; will undoubtedly attain Me
न च तस्मान् मनुष्येषुna ca tasmān manuṣyeṣuand among men there is none; among people there is none surpassing him
कश् चिन् मे प्रियकृत्तमःkaś cin me priyakṛttamaḥwho does anything dearer to Me; a more beloved servant to Me
भविता न च मे तस्माद्bhavitā na ca me tasmādnor will there be for Me one like him; nor will there become for Me
अन्यः प्रियतरो भुविanyaḥ priyataro bhuvianother dearer on earth; another more beloved in the world
अध्येष्यते च य इमंadhyeṣyate ca ya imaṃand whoever will study this; he who will study
धर्म्यं संवादम् आवयोःdharmyaṃ saṃvādam āvayoḥrighteous dialogue of the two of us; the dharma-imbued conversation between us
ज्ञानयज्ञेन तेनाहम्jñānayajñena tenāhamby that sacrifice of knowledge, I; through this offering of knowledge
इष्टः स्याम् इति मे मतिःiṣṭaḥ syām iti me matiḥshall be worshipped — such is My view; shall be adored, so I hold
श्रद्धावान् अनसूयश् चśraddhāvān anasūyaś caone with faith and free from envy; one having faith and without cavil
शृणुयाद् अपि यो नरःśṛṇuyād api yo naraḥeven whoever, a man, merely hears; a man who only listens
सो ऽपि मुक्तः शुभांल् लोकान्so 'pi muktaḥ śubhāṃl lokānhe too, liberated, the blessed worlds; he too, freed, the blessed abodes
प्राप्नुयात् पुण्यकर्मणाम्prāpnuyāt puṇyakarmaṇāmshall attain [the worlds] of those of righteous deeds; shall obtain the worlds of the pious
कच्चिद् एतच् छ्रुतं पार्थkaccid etac chrutaṃ pārthahas this been heard, O Partha; have you heard this
त्वयैकाग्रेण चेतसाtvayaikāgreṇa cetasāby you with a concentrated mind; with a single-pointed consciousness
कच्चिद् अज्ञानसंमोहःkaccid ajñānasaṃmohaḥhas the delusion of ignorance; has the bewilderment of ignorance vanished
प्रनष्टस् ते धनंजयpranaṣṭas te dhanaṃjayabeen destroyed in you, O Dhananjaya; been dispelled in you
अनुवाद

This should not be spoken to one who lacks austerity, who is without devotion, who does not wish to hear, or to one who envies Me. Whoever explains this supreme secret to My devotees, having shown supreme devotion to Me, will come to Me without doubt. Among men there is none who serves Me more dearly than he, and on earth there will be none dearer to Me than he. And whoever studies this righteous dialogue between the two of us will worship Me with the sacrifice of knowledge — such is My view. Even a man who, with faith and without envy, merely hears it will be liberated and will attain the blessed worlds of the righteous. O Partha, have you heard this with a concentrated mind? Has your delusion, born of ignorance, been destroyed, O Dhananjaya?
