धृतराष्ट्र उवाच
प्रतिज्ञाते तु भीष्मेण तस्मिन् युद्धे सुदारुणे ॥
क्रोधितो मम पुत्रेण दुःखितेन विशेषतः ॥
भीष्मः किम् अकरोत् तत्र पाण्डवेयेषु संजय ॥
पितामहे वा पाञ्चालास् तन् ममाचक्ष्व संजय ॥

दुःखितेन विशेषतःduḥkhitena viśeṣataḥespecially distressed; extremely grieved
भीष्मः किम् अकरोत् तत्रbhīṣmaḥ kim akarot tatrawhat did Bhishma do there; how did Bhishma act

अनुवाद
Dhritarashtra said: "When Bhishma made his vow in that terrible battle, enraged by my son, who was especially distressed — what did Bhishma do there against the Pandavas, O Sanjaya? And what did the Panchalas do against the grandfather? Tell me of this."
