ताम् आपतन्तीं सहसा गदां दृष्ट्वा वृकोदरः ॥
शरैर् अवारयद् राजन् सर्वसैन्यस्य पश्यतः ॥
ततो बाणसहस्राणि प्रेषयाम् आस पाण्डवः ॥
सूतपुत्रवधाकाङ्क्षी त्वरमाणः पराक्रमी ॥
तान् इषून् इषुभिः कर्णो वारयित्वा महामृधे ॥
कवचं भीमसेनस्य पातयाम् आस सायकैः ॥
अथैनं पञ्चविंशत्या क्षुद्रकाणां समार्पयत् ॥
पश्यतां सर्वभूतानां तद् अद्भुतम् इवाभवत् ॥

अनुवाद

That mace, suddenly rushing at him, Vrikodara, having seen it, warded off with arrows, o king, before the eyes of the whole army. Then the Pandava, desiring the death of the charioteer's son, hastening and valiant, sent forth thousands of arrows. Karna, warding off those arrows with his own arrows in the great combat, struck down Bhimasena's armor with shafts. Then he struck him with twenty-five kshudraka arrows, before the eyes of all beings; it was as though a wonder.
