अपि मेरुं वहेत् कश् चित् तरेद् वा मकरालयम् ॥
न तु वृष्णिप्रवीराणां समेत्यान्तं व्रजेन् नृप ॥
एतत् ते सर्वम् आख्यातं यत्र ते संशयो विभो ॥
कुरुराज नरश्रेष्ठ तव ह्य् अपनयो महान् ॥

api meruṃ vahet kaś cit tared vā makarālayam ||
na tu vṛṣṇipravīrāṇāṃ sametyāntaṃ vrajen nṛpa ||
etat te sarvam ākhyātaṃ yatra te saṃśayo vibho ||
kururāja naraśreṣṭha tava hy apanayo mahān ||

शब्दशः अर्थ

अपि मेरुम् वहेत् कः चित्api merum vahet kaḥ citeven Meru might someone carry; even Meru someone might carry
तरेत् वा मकरालयम्taret vā makarālayamor cross the abode of makaras; or cross the abode of the makaras [the ocean]
न तु वृष्णिप्रवीराणाम्na tu vṛṣṇipravīrāṇāmbut not of the heroes of the Vrishnis; but not [overcome] the heroes of the Vrishnis
समेत्य अन्तम् व्रजेत् नृपsametya antam vrajet nṛpahaving met them, would come to [their] end, king; having met them, would not reach [their] end, o king
एतत् ते सर्वम् आख्यातम्etat te sarvam ākhyātamthis to you all has been told; all this has been told to you
यत्र ते संशयः विभोyatra te saṃśayaḥ vibho[in] what [is] your doubt, lord; in what is your doubt, o lord
कुरुराज नरश्रेष्ठkururāja naraśreṣṭhaking of the Kurus, best of men; o king of the Kurus, best of men
तव हि अपनयः महान्tava hi apanayaḥ mahānfor your wrongdoing indeed is great; for indeed your wrongdoing is great
अनुवाद

"One might even carry Meru, or cross the abode of the makaras [the ocean], but having met the heroes of the Vrishnis in battle, one would not come to their end, o king. All this has been told to you, in answer to what you doubted, o lord. O king of the Kurus, best of men — for indeed your wrongdoing is great."
