ते तु पङ्क्तीकृता द्रौणिं शरा विविशुर् आशुगाः ॥
रुक्मपुङ्खाः प्रसन्नाग्राः सर्वकायावदारणाः ॥
मध्वर्थिन इवोद्दामा भ्रमराः पुष्पितं द्रुमम् ॥
सो ऽतिविद्धो भृशं क्रुद्धः पदाक्रान्त इवोरगः ॥
मानी द्रौणिर् असंभ्रान्तो बाणपाणिर् अभाषत ॥
धृष्टद्युम्न स्थिरो भूत्वा मुहूर्तं प्रतिपालय ॥
यावत् त्वां निशितैर् बाणैः प्रेषयामि यमक्षयम् ॥
द्रौणिर् एवम् अथाभाष्य पार्षतं परवीरहा ॥
छादयाम् आस बाणौघैः समन्ताल् लघुहस्तवत् ॥

mānī drauṇir asaṃbhrānto bāṇapāṇir abhāṣata ||
dhṛṣṭadyumna sthiro bhūtvā muhūrtaṃ pratipālaya ||
yāvat tvāṃ niśitair bāṇaiḥ preṣayāmi yamakṣayam ||
drauṇir evam athābhāṣya pārṣataṃ paravīrahā ||
chādayām āsa bāṇaughaiḥ samantāl laghuhastavat ||
Those swift arrows, drawn up in a row, entered Drauni — golden-feathered, bright-pointed, tearing through his whole body. He, badly pierced, enraged like a trodden snake, proud Drauni, undisturbed, spoke with an arrow in hand: 'Dhrishtadyumna, steady yourself and wait a moment, until I send you with sharp arrows to the abode of Yama.' Drauni, having thus spoken to Parshata, the destroyer of enemy heroes, showered him with streams of arrows from all sides, like a skilled master.
