तम् तम् भिप्रेक्ष्य भीर्माणम् वे
र्षम् हायां क्रुः कुवः र्व ते
थै पुत्रास् ते दुर्योपुरोमाः
प्लवाः प्लवम् साद्य र्तुकामा वार्णवम्
पुर्जातम् वात्मानं न्वानाः पार्थिवास् दा
लायुधं राक्षसेन्द्रं स्वातेनाभ्यपूयन्
स्मिंस् त्व् मानुषे युद्धे र्तमाने याहे
र्णराक्षयोर् क्तं दारुप्रतिर्शने

अनुवाद

Seeing him arrived, dreadful in deeds in battle, all those Kurus rejoiced. Likewise your sons, led by Duryodhana, like boatless men who had found a boat, longing to cross the ocean, deeming themselves as though reborn, the kings then honored Alayudha, lord of rakshasas, with welcome. When that superhuman battle raged, striking terror — the battle of Karna and the rakshasa by night, terrible to behold...
