अनुवाद

That [spear], o king, kept for years, cherished for slaying Phalguna [Arjuna] in battle, which Shakra [Indra] gave to the son of the suta — the finest spear, exchanged for the earrings — that spear, licking with flame, blazing, fitted with snares like the night of Antaka, sister of death, like a blazing meteor, Vaikartana hurled at the rakshasa. Seeing that finest one, destroyer of enemies' bodies, blazing in Sauti's [Karna's] hand, the frightened rakshasa fled, o king, making himself the size of a Vindhya tree. Seeing the spear in Karna's hands, beings cried out in the sky, o lord of men; tumultuous winds blew, o king, and with a crash the thunderbolt went into the earth.
