译文

'Having pierced Brahma's right breast, lord Dharma emerged in human form, bringing happiness to all the worlds. He has three excellent sons, the delight of all beings: Shama (Peace), Kama (Desire), and Harsha (Joy), who sustain the worlds by their splendor. The wife of Kama is Rati, the wife of Shama is the goddess Prapti, and the wife of Harsha is Nandi, she on whom the worlds are established. The son of Marichi is Kashyapa; from Kashyapa were born the gods and demons, O tiger among kings; he is the source of the worlds. The wife of Savitri is the daughter of Tvashtri, who took the form of a mare; in the sky she, the blessed one, bore the two Ashvins. Aditi has twelve sons headed by Shakra, O lord of men; the youngest of them is Vishnu, He on whom the worlds are established. These are the thirty-three gods; their lineage — by branches, by clans, and their hosts — I shall now set forth. There is a separate class of Rudras, Sadhyas, and also Maruts; to the Vasus add the offspring of Bhrigu, and likewise the Vishvedevas. The son of Vinata, Garuda, the mighty, and Aruna, and lord Brihaspati are counted among the Adityas. Know that the Guhyakas, all the herbs, and the cattle as well belong to the Ashvins. Having pierced Brahma's heart, lord Bhrigu emerged; the son of Bhrigu is the learned Kavi (Shukra); the son of Kavi is the planet Shukra (Venus), that celestial body. For the sake of sustaining the life of the three worlds — in rain and drought, in fear and safety — appointed by the Self-Existent, he roams the universe. A teacher of yoga, of great intellect, he became the preceptor of the daityas and also of the gods, wise, chaste, his vows restrained. When Bhargava (Shukra) was appointed by the lord Brahma for the sake of the world's welfare (yoga-kshema), Bhrigu begot another, blameless son.'
