译文

'As these words were spoken, in every quarter, O Bharata, fearsome carnivorous beasts and jackals -- heralds of calamity -- howled. Marking those dire omens on every side, the brahmins, O king, and the wise Vidura said: "Clearly this son of yours will become the destroyer of the race; peace lies in giving him up, while in nurturing him lies great disaster. Let there be, O king, ninety-nine sons instead of a hundred; by sacrificing one, bring good to the world and to the race. For the sake of the family, let a man give up one; for the sake of the village, let him give up the family; for the sake of the country, let him give up the village; and for the sake of his own self, let him give up the earth."'
