"So let us go to the Panchalas, if you agree; what has not been seen before will be delightful, child. Of the Panchalas it is heard that they have abundant food, O scourge of foes, and that king Yajnasena is devoted to the brahmins, as we have heard. A long stay in one place is not approved by me — so let us go there, if you, my son, agree."

Here appears both the wisdom of the wanderer and the caution of the exile. Kunti's rule is telling: "a long stay in one place is not approved" — the custom of the wanderer not to settle; for those in hiding it is doubly wise, so as not to be recognized. Telling too is the choice of destination: a land of plenty and a king who honors brahmins — there both shelter and sustenance are assured. Here appears the good sense that seeks out a place where the devout are honored: where the brahmin is honored, there the righteous wanderer too finds ease. Thus the scripture shows that discernment governs even the choice of path; and Kunti leads her sons to where not only bread but destiny itself awaits them.
