ततः तं पितरः तात विज्ञाय भृगुसत्तमम्tataḥ taṃ pitaraḥ tāta vijñāya bhṛgusattamamthen the forefathers, child, having learned of that best of the Bhrigus,
पितृलोकात् उपागम्य सर्वे ऊचुः इदं वचःpitṛlokāt upāgamya sarve ūcuḥ idaṃ vacaḥcoming from the world of the forefathers, all spoke this word:
और्व दृष्टः प्रभावः ते तपसः उग्रस्य पुत्रकaurva dṛṣṭaḥ prabhāvaḥ te tapasaḥ ugrasya putraka"Aurva, the might of your fierce austerity is seen, child;

Here the forefathers themselves come to still the wrath of their descendant. It is significant that they ask him to "restrain his anger" and show grace: those on whose behalf vengeance is sought do not themselves desire it. True love for the departed lies not in bloody retribution but in fulfilling their will; and the will of the Bhrigus was peace, not destruction. Significant, too, is the phrase "not from helplessness": their death was not a defeat but an outcome of their own choosing. Thus the scripture shows that Aurva's anger rests on ignorance of the forefathers' true will; and the forefathers hasten to reveal the truth to him, so as to still his needless fury.
