"If, then, my fathers were not saved by kings and lords capable of it -- by those who, deeming their own life dear, did not intervene -- therefore I am angry at these worlds, though now myself powerful. But your word I am not able to transgress."

Here Aurva's anger is joined with obedience to the ancestors. It is telling that, having denounced the cowardice of the powerful who did not intervene for the Bhrigus, he still bows before the word of the ancestors: "I am not able to transgress your word." Here it is shown that even righteous anger must submit to the will of elders and to higher understanding: self-will, even in just indignation, is restrained by humility. Thus the scripture shows that Aurva, having both cause and power, still hands the decision to the ancestors; and this obedience opens the way to a wise resolution.
