तथा एव अप्सरसः राजन्tathā eva apsarasaḥ rājanso too the apsaras, O king,
गन्धर्वाः च मनोरमाःgandharvāḥ ca manoramāḥand the enchanting gandharvas,
नृत्य-वादित्र-गीतैः चnṛtya-vāditra-gītaiḥ cawith dance, music, song
हास्यैः च विविधैः अपिhāsyaiḥ ca vividhaiḥ apiand jests of every kind
रमयन्ति स्म नृपतेramayanti sma nṛpatedelight, O lord of men,
देव-राजम् शतक्रतुम्deva-rājam śatakratumthe king of the gods, Shatakratu;
स्तुतिभिः मङ्गलैः च एवstutibhiḥ maṅgalaiḥ ca evawith hymns and benedictions,
स्तुवन्तः कर्मभिः तथाstuvantaḥ karmabhiḥ tathāpraising his deeds

Here even celestial merriment turns into the glorification of valor. It is significant that the song and dance of the apsaras are not empty, but celebrate deeds and prowess: art in the celestial world serves to praise the worthy. Thus the scripture shows that even delight there is turned toward the exalted; and next come the seers who arrive and depart.
