राजन् किं करवामस् ते प्रशाध्य् अस्मांस् त्वम् ईश्वरः ॥

Having suffered the greatest disgrace, he first of all bows in submission before the head of the family -- and in this humility there is more strength than in any wrath. Yudhishthira does not display his grievances or demand vengeance, but surrenders himself to the will of his elder, as befits the righteous. Thus dharma reveals itself as independent of whether reverence has been earned: rank and gray hair are honored even when the one who bears them has permitted injustice. The verse teaches that true nobility does not settle scores at the hour when it could; that submission before an elder is not an admission of his rightness but faithfulness to the order of the world; and that it is by just such freedom from malice that the righteous man opens a path to reconciliation unreachable by the avenger.
