तस्मिन् दशार्हाधिपतौ प्रयाते युधिष्ठिरः भीमसेन अर्जुनौ च यमौ च कृष्णा च पुरोहितः च रथान् महार्हान् परमाश्वयुक्तान्tasmin daśārhādhipatau prayāte yudhiṣṭhiraḥ bhīmasena arjunau ca yamau ca kṛṣṇā ca purohitaḥ ca rathān mahārhān paramāśvayuktānwhen the lord of the Dasharhas had departed, Yudhishthira, Bhimasena, Arjuna, the twins, Krishna-Draupadi, and the priest mounted precious chariots yoked with the finest horses
आस्थाय वीराः सहिताः वनाय प्रतस्थिरे भूतपतिप्रकाशाः हिरण्यनिष्कान् वसनानि गाः च प्रदाय शिक्षाक्षरमन्त्रविद्भ्यःāsthāya vīrāḥ sahitāḥ vanāya pratasthire bhūtapatiprakāśāḥ hiraṇyaniṣkān vasanāni gāḥ ca pradāya śikṣākṣaramantravidbhyaḥmounting up, the heroes set out together for the forest, shining like lords of beings, having given golden nishkas, garments and cows to the knowers of proper pronunciation, syllables and mantras
प्रेष्याः पुरः विंशतिः आत्तशस्त्राः धनूंषि वर्माणि शरान् च पीतान् मौर्वीः च यन्त्राणि च सायकान् च सर्वे समादाय जघन्यम् ईयुःpreṣyāḥ puraḥ viṃśatiḥ āttaśastrāḥ dhanūṃṣi varmāṇi śarān ca pītān maurvīḥ ca yantrāṇi ca sāyakān ca sarve samādāya jaghanyam īyuḥtwenty armed servants walked in front, while all the rest, taking up bows, armor, yellow arrows, bowstrings, equipment and shafts, walked behind
ततः तु वासांसि च राजपुत्र्याः धात्र्यः च दास्यः च विभूषणम् च तत् इन्द्रसेनः त्वरितम् प्रगृह्य जघन्यम् एव उपययौ रथेनtataḥ tu vāsāṃsi ca rājaputryāḥ dhātryaḥ ca dāsyaḥ ca vibhūṣaṇam ca tat indrasenaḥ tvaritam pragṛhya jaghanyam eva upayayau rathenathen Indrasena quickly gathered the princess's garments, her nurses, her maidservants and her ornaments, and followed behind in a chariot
ततः कुरुश्रेष्ठम् उपेत्य पौराः प्रदक्षिणम् चक्रुः अदीनसत्त्वाः तम् ब्राह्मणाः च अभ्यवदन् प्रसन्नाः मुख्याः च सर्वे कुरुजाङ्गलानाम्tataḥ kuruśreṣṭham upetya paurāḥ pradakṣiṇam cakruḥ adīnasattvāḥ tam brāhmaṇāḥ ca abhyavadan prasannāḥ mukhyāḥ ca sarve kurujāṅgalānāmthen the townsfolk, approaching the best of the Kurus, circled him keeping him on their right with unbroken spirit; the joyful brahmins and all the chief men of Kurujangala greeted him
