मान्धाता राजशार्दूलस् त्रिषु लोकेषु विश्रुतः ॥
कथं जातो महाब्रह्मन् यौवनाश्वो नृपोत्तमः ॥
कथं चैतां परां काष्ठां प्राप्तवान् अमितद्युतिः ॥
यस्य लोकास् त्रयो वश्या विष्णोर् इव महात्मनः ॥
एतद् इच्छाम्य् अहं श्रोतुं चरितं तस्य धीमतः ॥
यथा मान्धातृशब्दश् च तस्य शक्रसमद्युतेः ॥
जन्म चाप्रतिवीर्यस्य कुशलो ह्य् असि भाषितुम् ॥

译文

Yudhishthira said: 'Mandhatri, tiger among kings, son of Yuvanashva, is renowned in the three worlds. How was this best of kings born, great brahmin? And how did he, of boundless splendor, attain this supreme height? I wish to hear the deeds of this wise one, to whom the three worlds were subject as to the great Vishnu. How did the name Mandhatri arise for one who shone like Shakra? What was the birth of the unconquerable one? You are skilled in speaking of this.'
