Vaishampayana said: "Thus addressed, the Parthas and the two twins, bulls among men, together with Draupadi Krishna, bowed to Janardana. And he, tiger among men, consoled them with the sweetest words, honoring them as they deserved, according to custom. Then Yudhishthira, son of Kunti, again asked the great sage Markandeya about the future course of the world in the age of universal sovereignty: 'O best of speakers, we have heard of the wondrous things that happened to you at the beginning of the yugas, at creation and dissolution. But I am curious once more about this Kali age: when the dharmas are thrown into confusion, what will remain? What will be the strength, the food, the conduct, the lifespan, and the clothing of men when the yuga comes to its end? Having reached what limit will the Krita age come again? Tell it in full, O sage, for you speak of wondrous things.' Thus addressed, that foremost of sages spoke again, the great muni delighting the bull of the Vrishnis and the Pandavas."

After the vision of Narayana, the question about Kali sounds different: even the darkest age lies within the span of time that Krishna himself governs.
