अथोत्तरा च कन्याश् च सख्यस् ताम् अब्रुवंस् तदा ॥
बृहन्नडे आनयेथा वासांसि रुचिराणि नः ॥
पाञ्चालिकार्थं सूक्ष्माणि चित्राणि विविधानि च ॥
विजित्य संग्रामगतान् भीष्मद्रोणमुखान् कुरून् ॥
अथ ता ब्रुवतीः कन्याः सहिताः पाण्डुनन्दनः ॥
प्रत्युवाच हसन् पार्थो मेघदुन्दुभिनिःस्वनः ॥
यद्य् उत्तरो ऽयं संग्रामे विजेष्यति महारथान् ॥
अथाहरिष्ये वासांसि दिव्यानि रुचिराणि च ॥
एवम् उक्त्वा तु बीभत्सुस् ततः प्राचोदयद् धयान् ॥
कुरून् अभिमुखाञ् शूरो नानाध्वजपताकिनः ॥
athottarā ca kanyāś ca sakhyas tām abruvaṃs tadā ||
bṛhannaḍe ānayethā vāsāṃsi rucirāṇi naḥ ||
pāñcālikārthaṃ sūkṣmāṇi citrāṇi vividhāni ca ||
vijitya saṃgrāmagatān bhīṣmadroṇamukhān kurūn ||
atha tā bruvatīḥ kanyāḥ sahitāḥ pāṇḍunandanaḥ ||
pratyuvāca hasan pārtho meghadundubhiniḥsvanaḥ ||
yady uttaro 'yaṃ saṃgrāme vijeṣyati mahārathān ||
athāhariṣye vāsāṃsi divyāni rucirāṇi ca ||
evam uktvā tu bībhatsus tataḥ prācodayad dhayān ||
kurūn abhimukhāñ śūro nānādhvajapatākinaḥ ||
Then Uttara and her friends said to her: "Brihannada, bring us beautiful garments, fine, colorful, and of many kinds, for the sake of our dolls, once you have conquered the Kurus who have come to battle, led by Bhishma and Drona." Then Pandunandana Partha, laughing, answered those girls together, in a voice like a thundercloud's drum: "If this Uttara conquers the great chariot-warriors in battle, then I shall bring divine and beautiful garments." Having said this, Bibhatsu, the hero, then urged the horses onward toward the Kurus with their many banners and standards.
