That period of yours — the time of your dwelling unrecognized, the time of concealment — was again a terribly difficult task, and this task too you accomplished, O descendant of Bharata; one who has been cast down from his throne can expect nothing but privation. O king, where is happiness for him! O tormentor of your enemies, in compensation for all this immense suffering caused by the son of Dhritarashtra, you will attain a corresponding happiness once you have slain your enemies, O great king. O lord of men, the ways of the world are known to you. Therefore, my son, you are never guided by greed in any of your undertakings. O descendant of Bharata, you follow in the footsteps of the ancient holy kings. My son Yudhishthira, stand firm on the path of generosity, self-restraint, and truth. And, O royal Yudhishthira, in you may be found mercy and self-control, truth and universal compassion, and all that is wondrous in this world. You are gentle, generous, righteous and munificent, and you hold virtue to be the highest good. O king, many rules of virtue prevail among men, and all of them are known to you.
