译文

Here, O brahmin, in the bowers upon the breast of Mount Mandara and in the abodes of the twice-born rishis, the gandharvas sing hymns, stealing away both heart and mind. It is here that Raivata (the Daitya), hearing the sweet-voiced chanting of the Sama hymns, withdrew into the forest, forsaking wife, friends, and kingdom. In this region, O brahmin, Manu and the son of Yavakrita together established a boundary that the Sun can never cross. It is here that the renowned descendant of Pulastya, Ravana, king of the rakshasas, undergoing ascetic austerities, begged the gods for the boon of immortality.
