तद् एवं बहुमानात् ते मयेहानीप्सितं कृतम् ॥
सुकृतं दुष्कृतं वा त्वं माहात्म्यात् क्षन्तुम् अर्हसि ॥
सा तौ तदाब्रवीत् तुष्टा पतगेन्द्रद्विजर्षभौ ॥
न भेतव्यं सुपर्णो ऽसि सुपर्ण त्यज संभ्रमम् ॥
निन्दितास्मि त्वया वत्स न च निन्दां क्षमाम्य् अहम् ॥
लोकेभ्यः स परिभ्रश्येद् यो मां निन्देत पापकृत् ॥
हीनयालक्षणैः सर्वैस् तथानिन्दितया मया ॥
आचारं प्रतिगृह्णन्त्या सिद्धिः प्राप्तेयम् उत्तमा ॥
आचाराल् लभते धर्मम् आचाराल् लभते धनम् ॥
आचाराच् छ्रियम् आप्नोति आचारो हन्त्य् अलक्षणम् ॥
tad evaṃ bahumānāt te mayehānīpsitaṃ kṛtam ||
sukṛtaṃ duṣkṛtaṃ vā tvaṃ māhātmyāt kṣantum arhasi ||
sā tau tadābravīt tuṣṭā patagendradvijarṣabhau ||
na bhetavyaṃ suparṇo 'si suparṇa tyaja saṃbhramam ||
ninditāsmi tvayā vatsa na ca nindāṃ kṣamāmy aham ||
lokebhyaḥ sa paribhraśyed yo māṃ nindeta pāpakṛt ||
hīnayālakṣaṇaiḥ sarvais tathāninditayā mayā ||
ācāraṃ pratigṛhṇantyā siddhiḥ prāpteyam uttamā ||
ācārāl labhate dharmam ācārāl labhate dhanam ||
ācārāc chriyam āpnoti ācāro hanty alakṣaṇam ||
"Thus, out of regard for you, I did this here unintentionally. Whether it be good or ill, you should forgive it out of your own greatness." Then she, pleased, said to the two of them, the lord of birds and the best of brahmins: "Do not be afraid. You are Suparna, O Suparna; cast off your confusion. You have insulted me, child, but I do not tolerate insult. Whoever, a sinner, would censure me would fall away from the worlds. Though I am devoid of all outward auspicious marks, yet by not censuring others and by observing proper conduct, I have attained this highest perfection. From proper conduct one obtains dharma, from proper conduct one obtains wealth; through proper conduct one attains prosperity, and proper conduct destroys misfortune."
