अश्वानां काङ्क्षितार्थानां षड् इमानि शतानि वै ॥
शतद्वयेन कन्येयं भवता प्रतिगृह्यताम् ॥
अस्यां राजर्षिभिः पुत्रा जाता वै धार्मिकास् त्रयः ॥
चतुर्थं जनयत्व् एकं भवान् अपि नरोत्तम ॥
पूर्णान्य् एवं शतान्य् अष्टौ तुरगाणां भवन्तु ते ॥
भवतो ह्य् अनृणो भूत्वा तपः कुर्यां यथासुखम् ॥
नारद उवाच
विश्वामित्रस् तु तं दृष्ट्वा गालवं सह पक्षिणा ॥
कन्यां च तां वरारोहाम् इदम् इत्य् अब्रवीद् वचः ॥
किम् इयं पूर्वम् एवेह न दत्ता मम गालव ॥
पुत्रा ममैव चत्वारो भवेयुः कुलभावनाः ॥

viśvāmitras tu taṃ dṛṣṭvā gālavaṃ saha pakṣiṇā ||
kanyāṃ ca tāṃ varārohām idam ity abravīd vacaḥ ||
kim iyaṃ pūrvam eveha na dattā mama gālava ||
putrā mamaiva catvāro bhaveyuḥ kulabhāvanāḥ ||

译文

Galava said: "Here are six hundred horses of the desired kind; let your honor accept this maiden for two hundred more. Through her, royal sages have already begotten three righteous sons. Let you too, O best of men, beget one more, a fourth. Thus the full eight hundred horses will be yours; and I, freed from my debt to you, shall be able to perform austerity in peace." Narada said: "Having seen Galava with the bird and that fair-hipped maiden, Vishvamitra spoke these words: 'Why, Galava, was she not given to me earlier? Then all four sons, sustainers of the lineage, would have been mine.'"
