"He by whom the world is not disturbed, and who is not disturbed by the world, who is free from joy, intolerance, fear and anxiety -- he too is dear to Me. He who expects nothing, is pure, skillful, impartial, free from anxiety, and has given up all self-seeking undertakings -- such a devotee of Mine is dear to Me. He who neither rejoices nor hates, neither grieves nor desires, who has given up both the pleasant and the unpleasant and possesses bhakti -- he is dear to Me. He who is equal to enemy and friend, alike in honor and dishonor, in cold and heat, in happiness and suffering; who is free from attachment, the same in blame and in praise, silent, content with whatever comes, unattached to any dwelling, firm of mind, and full of bhakti -- such a man is dear to Me."

Krishna describes not a lifeless detachment but a steadiness of heart rooted in Him. Such a devotee does not become a source of anxiety for others, nor does he let the world take from him his inner bond with the Lord.
