Sanjaya said: "Arjuna, having seen Bhishma's valor in battle, o king, said to Shikhandin: 'Advance upon the grandsire. Today you need not fear Bhishma at all: I will cast him down from his fine chariot with sharp arrows.' Hearing this from Partha, Shikhandin, o bull of the Bharatas, rushed at the son of Ganga. Dhrishtadyumna and the great chariot-warrior Saubhadra, hearing Partha's words, joyfully rushed at Bhishma. The elders Virata and Drupada, and Kuntibhoja in armor, attacked the son of Ganga before the eyes of your son. Nakula, Sahadeva, the valiant Dharmaraja, and all the other armies, o lord of the people, hearing Partha's words, together rushed at Gangeya. And your own warriors, gathering, went out to meet those great chariot-warriors, each according to his strength and his zeal. Listen as I tell you of this."

Arjuna turns the resolve made the night before into a battlefield command. After his words, not only Shikhandin but the whole Pandava army begins moving toward Bhishma.
