अथ वीरो महेष्वासो मत्तवारणविक्रमः ॥
समादाय महच् चापं मत्तवारणवारणम् ॥
विधुन्वानो धनुः श्रेष्ठं द्रावयाणो महारथान् ॥
पृतनां पाण्डवेयानां पातयानो महारथः ॥
निमित्तानि निमित्तज्ञः सर्वतो वीक्ष्य वीर्यवान् ॥
प्रतपन्तम् अनीकानि द्रोणः पुत्रम् अभाषत ॥

译文

Sanjaya said: "Then the hero, the great archer with the might of a rutting elephant, took up his great bow, capable of checking maddened elephants, brandished that finest bow, put the maharathas to flight, and crushed the army of the Pandavas. The valiant Drona, knower of omens, having looked on every side at the signs and the armies blazing in battle, turned to speak to his son."
