译文

Then the preceptor of the Kauravas [Drona], having heard your son's word, gladdening the whole army, spoke this word: "Blessed is King Yudhishthira, son of Kunti, whose capture you desire, and not his death; it is not death you ask for as a boon today, O unassailable one. Why then, tiger among men, do you not desire his death? Surely you are not merely humoring me in this deed, O Duryodhana. Or is there no hater of the son of Dharma [Yudhishthira] in you? Since you desire him alive, you thereby protect your own clan in yourself."
