译文
That weapon I have now, for your sake, turned to nothing. Now that he is deprived of his supreme weapon, slay, O Partha, the great asura — the foe unconquerable in battle, Bhagadatta, hater of the gods — just as I once slew Naraka for the good of the world, so slay him now.

The Lord Himself withdraws His own unfailing weapon — 'for your sake' — and thereby opens the way to the devotee's victory. Only the One who established the gift has the power to revoke it, and He does so out of love for His friend. It is significant that Krishna calls on Arjuna to repeat His own ancient deed — as He once slew Naraka for the good of the world, so now Arjuna is to slay Bhagadatta. The devotee becomes the one who carries forward the Lord's own work. The verse teaches that the Lord not only protects the devotee but also prepares his path to victory by removing the insurmountable; that only the One who set the limit has the power to lift it — and He lifts it out of love; and that the devotee's highest calling is to fulfill the Lord's will, becoming His hands in the world, continuing that very work of protecting the good which the Lord Himself performs eternally.
