न विषादस् त्वया कार्यः कर्णं वैकर्तनं प्रति ॥
उपदेक्ष्याम्य् उपायं ते येन तं प्रसहिष्यसि ॥
सुयोधनं चापि रणे हनिष्यति वृकोदरः ॥
तस्य चापि वधोपायं वक्ष्यामि तव पाण्डव ॥
वर्धते तुमुलस् त्व् एष शब्दः परचमूं प्रति ॥
विद्रवन्ति च सैन्यानि त्वदीयानि दिशो दश ॥
लब्धलक्ष्या हि कौरव्या विधमन्ति चमूं तव ॥
दहत्य् एष च वः सैन्यं द्रोणः प्रहरतां वरः ॥
na viṣādas tvayā kāryaḥ karṇaṃ vaikartanaṃ prati ||
upadekṣyāmy upāyaṃ te yena taṃ prasahiṣyasi ||
suyodhanaṃ cāpi raṇe haniṣyati vṛkodaraḥ ||
tasya cāpi vadhopāyaṃ vakṣyāmi tava pāṇḍava ||
vardhate tumulas tv eṣa śabdaḥ paracamūṃ prati ||
vidravanti ca sainyāni tvadīyāni diśo daśa ||
labdhalakṣyā hi kauravyā vidhamanti camūṃ tava ||
dahaty eṣa ca vaḥ sainyaṃ droṇaḥ praharatāṃ varaḥ ||
"Wherever they [the virtues] are — there I always dwell; I swear to you by truth. Do not give way to despair concerning Karna Vaikartana; I will teach you the means by which you will overpower him. And Suyodhana too will be slain in battle by Vrikodara [Bhima]; and the means of his slaying too I will tell you, O Pandava. And this tumultuous cry rises toward the enemy host, and your armies flee in ten directions. For the Kauravas, having found their mark, are scattering your host; and this Drona, the best of strikers, is burning your army."

Krishna comforts Arjuna and promises means to overcome Karna and Duryodhana — but at once returns him to the urgent moment: the army is fleeing, Drona is burning the host. This blend of the eternal and the pressing is significant: revelation about dharma is followed by a sober call to action. This verse teaches that higher knowledge does not lead one away from present duty but returns one to it strengthened; and one comforted by the promise of future victory must first hold firm through the present hour of crisis.
