译文

Having learned this intention in Karna, O king, the slayer of Madhu [Krishna] then appointed the lord of the rakshasas, Ghatotkacha, of great valor, to the duel — the very wise Janardana, in order to thwart the unfailing dart, O king, at your ill counsel. For then indeed we would have accomplished all, O exalter of the Kurus, had Krishna not protected that Partha from Karna, the great warrior. With his horses, banner, and chariot, in battle, O Dhritarashtra, Partha would have fallen to the ground without Janardana — the lord of yogis, the master.
