Translation

Having received permission from both, the glorious Savitri went with her husband, as if smiling, though her heart was tormented. Wide-eyed, she beheld the varied and beautiful forests all around, ringing with the cries of peacocks, the sacred rivers, and the flowering trees. Satyavan said to her sweetly, "Look." But the blameless one, gazing upon her husband in every state, already reckoned him as dead, remembering the appointed time and the sage's word. Following her husband, the gently walking Savitri went on, her heart as if split in two, watching for that hour.
