महेश्वरो ऽपि पार्थेन श्रूयते योधितः पुरा ॥
पदातिना महातेजा गिरौ हिमवति प्रभुः ॥
दानवानां सहस्राणि हिरण्यपुरवासिनाम् ॥
जघान् एकरथेनैव देवराजप्रचोदितः ॥
समायुक्तो हि कौन्तेयो वासुदेवेन धीमता ॥
सामरान् अपि लोकांस् त्रीन् निहन्याद् इति मे मतिः ॥
maheśvaro 'pi pārthena śrūyate yodhitaḥ purā ||
padātinā mahātejā girau himavati prabhuḥ ||
dānavānāṃ sahasrāṇi hiraṇyapuravāsinām ||
jaghān ekarathenaiva devarājapracoditaḥ ||
samāyukto hi kaunteyo vāsudevena dhīmatā ||
sāmarān api lokāṃs trīn nihanyād iti me matiḥ ||
"Even Maheshvara, it is heard, was fought long ago by Partha — on foot — on the mountain Himavat, though himself a most mighty lord. Thousands of danavas, dwellers of the Golden City, he slew with a single chariot, urged on by the king of the gods. For the son of Kunti, joined with wise Vasudeva, would slay even the three worlds with the gods — such is my belief."

Jayadratha recounts the impossible made real: Arjuna stood his ground on foot against Shiva, single-handedly crushed the danavas of Hiranyapura. And the pinnacle: "vāsudevena samāyuktaḥ… lokān trīn nihanyāt" — in alliance with Krishna he would overcome even the three worlds. It is significant that the measure of invincibility is again the alliance with the Lord, not the feats themselves. The enemy himself testifies: Arjuna together with Krishna is unconquerable by all creation. The verse teaches that a man united with God surpasses every conceivable power — not by his own might, but by the One who is with him; and even a trembling foe acknowledges this.
