क्रव्यादांस् तर्पयिष्यामि द्रावयिष्यामि शात्रवान् ॥
सुहृदो नन्दयिष्यामि पातयिष्यामि सैन्धवम् ॥
बह्व् आगस्कृत् कुसंबन्धी पापदेशसमुद्भवः ॥
मया सैन्धवको राजा हतः स्वाञ् शोचयिष्यति ॥
सर्वक्षीरान्नभोक्तारः पापाचारा रणाजिरे ॥
मया सराजका बाणैर् नुन्ना नंक्ष्यन्ति सैन्धवाः ॥
kravyādāṃs tarpayiṣyāmi drāvayiṣyāmi śātravān ||
suhṛdo nandayiṣyāmi pātayiṣyāmi saindhavam ||
bahv āgaskṛt kusaṃbandhī pāpadeśasamudbhavaḥ ||
mayā saindhavako rājā hataḥ svāñ śocayiṣyati ||
sarvakṣīrānnabhoktāraḥ pāpācārā raṇājire ||
mayā sarājakā bāṇair nunnā naṃkṣyanti saindhavāḥ ||
"I shall satiate the flesh-eating beasts, I shall put my enemies to flight, I shall gladden my friends, I shall bring down the man of Sindhu. He who has wrought much evil, a wicked kinsman, born in a sinful land — the king of Sindhu, struck down by me, will plunge his own people into grief. Those who have feasted on every kind of milk-fare, of evil conduct, on the field of battle — struck by my arrows together with their king, the Sindhus will perish."

Jayadratha's guilt is named in full: "bahu āgaskṛt kusaṃbandhī", "a great wrongdoer, an evil kinsman" — he, husband of the Kauravas' sister, turned kinship into evil. It is telling that there is a bitter symmetry: he who plunged Arjuna into grief will, by his own death, "svān śocayiṣyati", plunge his own people into grief. Thus retribution returns to the wrongdoer what he inflicted. The verse teaches that unrighteousness cuts both ways: he who causes grief to another brings that same grief upon those close to himself, and the punishment for violated kinship falls upon the very one who defiled the duty of kin.
