हरिणा चन्दनेनाङ्गम् अनुलिप्य महाभुजः ॥
स्रग्वी चाक्लिष्टवसनः प्राङ्मुखः प्राञ्जलिः स्थितः ॥
जजाप जप्यं कौन्तेयः सतां मार्गम् अनुष्ठितः ॥
ततो ऽग्निशरणं दीप्तं प्रविवेश विनीतवत् ॥
समिद्धं स पवित्राभिर् अग्निम् आहुतिभिस् तथा ॥
मन्त्रपूताभिर् अर्चित्वा निश्चक्राम गृहात् ततः ॥

hariṇā candanenāṅgam anulipya mahābhujaḥ ||
sragvī cākliṣṭavasanaḥ prāṅmukhaḥ prāñjaliḥ sthitaḥ ||
jajāpa japyaṃ kaunteyaḥ satāṃ mārgam anuṣṭhitaḥ ||
tato 'gniśaraṇaṃ dīptaṃ praviveśa vinītavat ||
samiddhaṃ sa pavitrābhir agnim āhutibhis tathā ||
mantrapūtābhir arcitvā niścakrāma gṛhāt tataḥ ||

Translation

Having anointed his body with yellow sandalwood, the mighty-armed, garlanded and in unsoiled garments, stood facing east with joined palms. The son of Kunti, following the path of the righteous, performed the prayer; then he entered humbly into the blazing chamber of fire. Having worshipped the kindled fire with pure oblations consecrated with mantras, he then went out from the house.
