व्यक्तम् अर्जुन संग्रामे ध्रुवस् ते विजयो महान् ॥
यादृग् रूपा हि ते छाया प्रसन्नश् च जनार्दनः ॥
तम् अब्रवीत् ततो जिष्णुर् महद् आश्चर्यम् उत्तमम् ॥
दृष्टवान् अस्मि भद्रं ते केशवस्य प्रसादजम् ॥
ततस् तत् कथयाम् आस यथादृष्टं धनंजयः ॥
आश्वासनार्थं सुहृदां त्र्यम्बकेन समागमम् ॥
vyaktam arjuna saṃgrāme dhruvas te vijayo mahān ||
yādṛg rūpā hi te chāyā prasannaś ca janārdanaḥ ||
tam abravīt tato jiṣṇur mahad āścaryam uttamam ||
dṛṣṭavān asmi bhadraṃ te keśavasya prasādajam ||
tatas tat kathayām āsa yathādṛṣṭaṃ dhanaṃjayaḥ ||
āśvāsanārthaṃ suhṛdāṃ tryambakena samāgamam ||
"Clearly, Arjuna, your great victory in battle is certain — for such is your form and your face, and Janardana is gracious." Then Jishnu said to him: "A great, wondrous, supreme marvel I have seen, blessing be to you, born of Keshava's grace." And then Dhananjaya related, as he had seen it, for the reassurance of his friends, his meeting with Tryambaka.

Yudhishthira foresees the outcome from his brother's bearing: "yādṛk rūpā te chāyā prasannaś ca janārdanaḥ", "such is your face, and Janardana is gracious" — victory is read not by strength but by the grace that lights up the face. Arjuna, in turn, hastens to give credit to its source: "keśavasya prasādajam", "born of Keshava's grace". It is telling that he tells of the marvel "āśvāsanārtham suhṛdām", for the reassurance of his friends. The verse teaches that the Lord's grace shows through in the very bearing of the one it has touched; and a mercy one has experienced ought not to be hidden but shared with those close to us — for the strengthening of shared faith.
