स त्वम् अद्य महाबाहो राजानं परिपालय ॥
यथैव हि मया गुप्तस् त्वया गुप्तो भवेत् तथा ॥
त्वयि चाहं पराश्वस्य प्रद्युम्ने वा महारथे ॥
शक्नुयां सैन्धवं हन्तुम् अनपेक्षो नरर्षभ ॥

yathaiva hi mayā guptas tvayā gupto bhavet tathā ||
tvayi cāhaṃ parāśvasya pradyumne vā mahārathe ||
śaknuyāṃ saindhavaṃ hantum anapekṣo nararṣabha ||

"You now, O mighty-armed one, guard the king, so that he may be guarded by you as he would be by me. And relying upon you, or upon Pradyumna the great warrior, I shall be able to slay the Sindhu king without a care, O bull among men."

Arjuna entrusts to Satyaki what is dearest to him: "yathā mayā guptaḥ tvayā guptaḥ bhavet" — "as I would guard him, so guard him yourself." Such trust is the highest honor. Only then, having handed the care to one he trusts, can he act "anapekṣaḥ", without a care. Tellingly, even the greatest warrior does not go into battle without securing his rear. The verse teaches that one can fulfill one's own duty fully only by reliably entrusting the rest to someone trustworthy: sharing the burden with one trusted as oneself frees one for the essential task, and the wise go to their trial having left what is dear in safe hands.
