वम् क्तः माश्वस्तः सिन्धुराजो द्रथः
संप्रायात् गान्धारैर् वृतस् तैश् हाथैः
र्मिभिः सादिभिर् त्तैः प्रापाणिभिर् स्थितैः
चारापीडिनः र्वे जाम्बूविभूषिताः
द्रस्य राजेन्द्र याः साधुप्रवाहिनः
ते चै प्तसास्रा द्विसास्राश् सैन्धवाः

evam uktaḥ saśvastaḥ sindhujo jayadrathaḥ ||
saṃprāt saha ndhārair vṛtas taiś ca marathaiḥ ||
varmibhiḥ dibhir yattaiḥ prāsaṇibhir āsthitaiḥ ||
maḍinaḥ sarve mbūnadavibhūṣitāḥ ||
jayadrathasya jendra hayāḥ dhuprahinaḥ ||
te caiva saptahasrā dvihasrāś ca saindhavāḥ ||

Translation

Thus addressed and comforted, the king of Sindhu, Jayadratha, set out with the Gandharas, surrounded by those great chariot-warriors. The horses of Jayadratha, O lord of kings, all crowned with chamara-plumes, adorned with gold, were stately and ran well.
