एवम् उक्तः समाश्वस्तः सिन्धुराजो जयद्रथः ॥
संप्रायात् सह गान्धारैर् वृतस् तैश् च महारथैः ॥
वर्मिभिः सादिभिर् यत्तैः प्रासपाणिभिर् आस्थितैः ॥
चामरापीडिनः सर्वे जाम्बूनदविभूषिताः ॥
जयद्रथस्य राजेन्द्र हयाः साधुप्रवाहिनः ॥
ते चैव सप्तसाहस्रा द्विसाहस्राश् च सैन्धवाः ॥
evam uktaḥ samāśvastaḥ sindhurājo jayadrathaḥ ||
saṃprāyāt saha gāndhārair vṛtas taiś ca mahārathaiḥ ||
varmibhiḥ sādibhir yattaiḥ prāsapāṇibhir āsthitaiḥ ||
cāmarāpīḍinaḥ sarve jāmbūnadavibhūṣitāḥ ||
jayadrathasya rājendra hayāḥ sādhupravāhinaḥ ||
te caiva saptasāhasrā dvisāhasrāś ca saindhavāḥ ||
Thus addressed and comforted, the king of Sindhu, Jayadratha, set out with the Gandharas, surrounded by those great chariot-warriors. The horses of Jayadratha, O lord of kings, all crowned with chamara-plumes, adorned with gold, were stately and ran well.

Again "samāśvastaḥ," "comforted": the teacher's words have restored a false calm to Jayadratha, and he goes forth in gold and splendor. But the reader remembers Arjuna's vow and Krishna's pledge -- this calm is doomed. It is telling that the gleam of ornament only shadows what is to come. The verse teaches that outward well-being and reassurance can deceive: one who advances splendidly to meet his fate does not know his own end; and the ornamented confidence of one whose ruin is already decreed is only a bitter herald of his fall.
