तथापरैः सुनिशितैर् भल्लैस् तेषां महायशाः ॥
पुष्पाणीव विचिन्वन् हि सोत्तमाङ्गान्य् अपातयत् ॥
ते रथेभ्यो हताः पेतुः क्षितौ राजन् सुवर्चसः ॥
देवासुरे पुरा युद्धे यथा दैतेयदानवाः ॥
तान् निहत्य रणे राजन् भारद्वाजः प्रतापवान् ॥
कार्मुकं भ्रामयाम् आस हेमपृष्ठं दुरासदम् ॥
tathāparaiḥ suniśitair bhallais teṣāṃ mahāyaśāḥ ||
puṣpāṇīva vicinvan hi sottamāṅgāny apātayat ||
te rathebhyo hatāḥ petuḥ kṣitau rājan suvarcasaḥ ||
devāsure purā yuddhe yathā daiteyadānavāḥ ||
tān nihatya raṇe rājan bhāradvājaḥ pratāpavān ||
kārmukaṃ bhrāmayām āsa hemapṛṣṭhaṃ durāsadam ||
Then with other sharp-honed broad-headed shafts the greatly renowned Drona, as if gathering flowers, cast down their heads. They, slain, fell from their chariots to the ground, O king, their radiance still upon them, as once in the battle of the gods and the asuras the daityas and danavas fell. Having slain them in battle, O king, the valiant son of Bharadvaja whirled his golden-backed, formidable bow.

Drona strikes off the princes' heads, "puṣpāṇīva vicinvan", as though plucking flowers: the ease of a master at a terrible task. The fallen, "suvarcasaḥ", are likened to slain daityas and danavas -- beauty within horror, an echo of the eternal battle. It is telling that fearsome skill acts without strain. The verse teaches that perfect mastery is terrible precisely in its lightness: where another would labor, the master acts at play, and this very ease in a deadly task shows most starkly how fragile life is before a skilled hand.
