Here the king's devotion bears its fruit — the favor of the divine. It is telling that Surya, seeking a worthy man for his daughter, finds him in his own devotee: earnest worship makes the devotee pleasing in the eyes of the divine. Here is revealed the general law of bhakti: whoever serves the divine with love is distinguished and rewarded by it. Thus the scripture shows that Samvarana's devotion is rewarded with the highest gift — the hand of the sun's daughter; and heaven's favor descends upon the faithful devotee.
