किं नु मे स्यात् कृतं कृत्वा मन्यध्वं पुत्रकाः कथम् ॥
चिन्तयाना विमोक्षं वो नाधिगच्छामि किं चन ॥
छादयित्वा च वो गात्रैः करिष्ये मरणं सह ॥

Here the mother is ready to die, shielding her children with herself. Jarita's resolve is telling — "covering you with my body, I shall die together with you": the highest measure of maternal love is to shield the child with oneself. Here is self-sacrifice, sparing nothing of oneself for the sake of those one loves. Thus the scripture reveals the mother's readiness for sacrifice; but the children will not accept her death.
