Here the fledglings ask deliverance from their tormentors. It is significant that, having been granted a boon, they ask not for riches but for protection from the predators that harassed them: for the persecuted, the first good is deliverance from the persecutor. Thus sounds the natural plea of the defenseless for safety. Thus scripture reveals the fledglings' petition -- and Agni will fulfill it.
