पृथक् च सह च अब्रुवन्pṛthak ca saha ca abruvansaid, both separately and together;
सः धर्म्यम् पाण्डवः तेषाम्saḥ dharmyam pāṇḍavaḥ teṣāmthat Pandava, their righteous
वचः श्रुत्वा विशाम् पतेvacaḥ śrutvā viśām pateword having heard, O lord of peoples,
धृष्टम् इष्टम् वरिष्ठम् चdhṛṣṭam iṣṭam variṣṭham cabold, welcome, and most excellent,
जग्राह मनसा अरि-हाjagrāha manasā ari-hāhe accepted it in his mind, the slayer of foes;
श्रुत्वा सुहृत्-वचः तत् चśrutvā suhṛt-vacaḥ tat cahaving heard that word of friends
जानन् च अपि आत्मनः क्षमम्jānan ca api ātmanaḥ kṣamamand knowing also his own capacity,
पुनः पुनः मनः दध्रेpunaḥ punaḥ manaḥ dadhreagain and again he set his mind
राजसूयाय भारतrājasūyāya bhārataon the Rajasuya, O Bharata;
सः भ्रातृभिः पुनः धीमान्saḥ bhrātṛbhiḥ punaḥ dhīmānhe, with his brothers again, the wise one,
ऋत्विग्भिः च महात्मभिःṛtvigbhiḥ ca mahātmabhiḥand with the great-souled priests,
धौम्य-द्वैपायन-आद्यैः चdhaumya-dvaipāyana-ādyaiḥ cawith Dhaumya, Dvaipayana, and the rest,

Here the king, having accepted counsel, still takes counsel again. It is telling that he is not content with the approval of friends, but seeks also the word of priests and sages: a weighty decision is tested by many voices and many times over. Thus the scripture shows circumspection even in a good undertaking; and further the king himself puts forward a question.
