[On that chariot,] the color of molten gold, hung with a net of little bells, rumbling like a peal of thunder, victorious, destroying foes — on which Shakra had slain nine times ninety danavas — having obtained that chariot, those bulls among men rejoiced.

The chariot that once served Indra in crushing the danavas is now given to the Pandavas — and this succession is no accident. It is significant that the instrument of victory over demons is once again turned against those who, like demons, trampled on dharma. The verse teaches that means consecrated to the service of the higher order pass on to those who continue the same work; and the heroes' joy is not from the gleam of gold, but from sharing in the eternal victory of the righteous over the lawless.
