प्रत्यादानं च राज्यस्य कार्यम् ऊचुर् नराधिपाः ॥
भवतः सानुबन्धस्य समुच्छेदं चिकीर्षवः ॥
श्रुत्वा चैतन् मयोक्तास् तु भीष्मद्रोणकृपास् तदा ॥
ज्ञातिक्षयभयाद् राजन् भीतेन भरतर्षभ ॥
न ते स्थास्यन्ति समये पाण्डवा इति मे मतिः ॥
समुच्छेदं हि नः कृत्स्नं वासुदेवश् चिकीर्षति ॥
ऋते च विदुरं सर्वे यूयं वध्या महात्मनः ॥
धृतराष्ट्रश् च धर्मज्ञो न वध्यः कुरुसत्तमः ॥
समुच्छेदं च कृत्स्नं नः कृत्वा तात जनार्दनः ॥
एकराज्यं कुरूणां स्म चिकीर्षति युधिष्ठिरे ॥

pratyādānaṃ ca rājyasya kāryam ūcur narādhipāḥ ||
bhavataḥ sānubandhasya samucchedaṃ cikīrṣavaḥ ||
śrutvā caitan mayoktās tu bhīṣmadroṇakṛpās tadā ||
jñātikṣayabhayād rājan bhītena bharatarṣabha ||
na te sthāsyanti samaye pāṇḍavā iti me matiḥ ||
samucchedaṃ hi naḥ kṛtsnaṃ vāsudevaś cikīrṣati ||
ṛte ca viduraṃ sarve yūyaṃ vadhyā mahātmanaḥ ||
dhṛtarāṣṭraś ca dharmajño na vadhyaḥ kurusattamaḥ ||
samucchedaṃ ca kṛtsnaṃ naḥ kṛtvā tāta janārdanaḥ ||

Traducción

Since, O bull of the Bharata race, you wounded the sons of Pritha from the very beginning, having in fact repeatedly committed sins, now, O great king, is not the time to grieve. He who occupies the position of a father and friend, if he is ever watchful and kind-hearted, should strive for their welfare; but he who does them harm cannot be called a father.
