"As I am unconquered in battle and myself conquer when I go forth to fight — by that truth, know Jayadratha to be slain in battle. Truth is unfailing in the brahmin, humility is unfailing in the righteous, fortune is unfailing in the diligent, victory is unfailing in Narayana."

The crown of the chapter is "dhruvo nārāyaṇe jayaḥ" — victory is unfailing in Narayana. Arjuna grounds the certainty of his vow in four unfailing truths of existence: truth in the brahmin, humility in the righteous, fortune in the diligent — and victory, abiding in the Lord Himself. It is telling that he does not claim his own coming victory as his own but places it in Narayana: it is not Arjuna who conquers, but the Lord through him. This is the heart of the Gaudiya vision: "jayaḥ" belongs to God. The verse teaches that every true victory comes from Narayana and rests in Narayana; to the human being is given only to become the instrument of a victory that already, inalienably, abides in the Lord.
