हन्त ते संप्रवक्ष्यामि सर्वं प्रत्यक्षदर्शिवान् ॥
शुश्रूषस्व स्थिरो भूत्वा तव ह्य् अपनयो महान् ॥
गतोदके सेतुबन्धो यादृक् तादृग् अयं तव ॥
विलापो निष्फलो राजन् मा शुचो भरतर्षभ ॥
अनतिक्रमणीयो ऽयं कृतान्तस्याद्भुतो विधिः ॥
मा शुचो भरतश्रेष्ठ दिष्टम् एतत् पुरातनम् ॥

hanta te saṃpravakṣyāmi sarvaṃ pratyakṣadarśivān ||
śuśrūṣasva sthiro bhūtvā tava hy apanayo mahān ||
gatodake setubandho yādṛk tādṛg ayaṃ tava ||
vilāpo niṣphalo rājan mā śuco bharatarṣabha ||
anatikramaṇīyo 'yaṃ kṛtāntasyādbhuto vidhiḥ ||
mā śuco bharataśreṣṭha diṣṭam etat purātanam ||

अनतिक्रमणीयः अयम्anatikramaṇīyaḥ ayaminsurmountable is this; insurmountable is this
कृतान्तस्य अद्भुतः विधिःkṛtāntasya adbhutaḥ vidhiḥthe wondrous law of Fate [the Ender]; the wondrous law of Fate

"Well then, I shall tell you all, having seen it with my own eyes; listen, and be firm, for your blunder is great. Like the building of a dam when the water has already gone, so is this lament of yours — fruitless, O king; do not grieve, O bull of the Bharata race. Insurmountable is this wondrous law of Fate; do not grieve, O best of the Bharatas — this was ordained from of old."
