व्यवस्थाप्य रथं सज्जं शङ्खं दध्मौ प्रतापवान् ॥
अथ कृष्णो ऽप्य् असंभ्रान्तः पार्थेन सह मारिष ॥
प्राध्मापयत् पाञ्चजन्यं शङ्खप्रवरम् ओजसा ॥

Traducción
He, at arrow's range from the great vanguard array, Dhananjaya, having stationed his equipped chariot, blew his conch, the mighty one. Then Krishna too, unperturbed, together with Partha, O venerable one, blew Panchajanya, the finest of conches, with might.

The battle begins not with a blow but with the voice of conches: Arjuna sounds his, and Krishna, "asaṃbhrāntaḥ," unperturbed, answers with Panchajanya. The Lord's calm amid the dreadful array is the seal of certainty. It is significant that the charioteer-God's voice precedes every blow. The verse teaches that a righteous deed is proclaimed before it is accomplished: the Lord's voice, calm amid enemies, announces the inevitability of the outcome; and Krishna's composure before the vast enemy host is the pledge that victory is already decided by the One who sounds the conch.
