Horse pierced, banner cut, elephant fallen with its rider, parasols thrown down, chariots left without wheels; and armies turned to flight, tormented by arrows on every side — such was the tumultuous battle that nothing at all could be discerned.

"Na prājñāyata kiṃ cana," "nothing at all could be discerned" — the chaos of battle swallows every order. The poet lists the disintegration: horses, banners, elephants, wheels, fleeing hosts. Telling is that amid this confusion only Arjuna's will, guided by the Lord, remains purposeful. The verse teaches that in the world's turmoil, only the one guided by a higher aim keeps to the path: where for everyone else "nothing can be discerned," the one who walks with God still sees the way. Amid universal chaos, discernment is preserved only in the one set upon a righteous goal.
